It’s been a while since we’ve given an SRT update on the Haivision blog so today we’re thrilled to share three important announcements that you won’t want to miss: a milestone update on SRT Alliance membership, a brand-new webinar series, and a significant virtual event for developers; the SRT Plugfest. Read on for all the details!
1. Cross-Industry Support for SRT Open Source Continues to Grow
As the original developers of SRT and the founding member of the SRT Alliance, the Haivision team is thrilled that support for the video streaming protocol continues to flourish. From greater cost savings to reliability and interoperability, more companies around the globe are recognizing the clear benefits that the SRT protocol offers. In fact, in the past four months alone, over 50 industry-leading organizations have joined the SRT Alliance, bringing the total number of members to more than 350. Some of the latest organizations to join include Tata Communications, Panasonic, Edgeware, and DVSport. Read the full announcement here.
2. SRT Goes Virtual with SRT Tuesday Webinars
With the recent cancellation of in-person events, Haivision, in partnership with the SRT Alliance and Microsoft, is committed to delivering SRT updates to the community and will be hosting a series of SRT webinars. The first event in the SRT Tuesday Webinar Series has just been announced for April 28. In Broadcast Reimagined: SRT – The Simple Solution for Your Remote and At-Home Workforce, video experts from Haivision and Live X will share how SRT is proving to be an instrumental tool in broadcast workflows and the adoption of new ways of working, allowing employees working at home to easily contribute and monitor live, high-quality video feeds over the public internet. Register for the webinar and learn how simple and quick it is to transport pristine quality, low latency video streams with SRT.
3. The SRT Plugfest is Happening in May!
You heard it here first! Haivision and Microsoft have partnered up to sponsor SRT Plugfest, an online collaborative event for developers happening from May 5 to May 7. The event is focused on giving the members of the SRT community the opportunity to test interoperability and compatibility between different technologies using the SRT open source video streaming protocol. Moderated by core developers from Haivision and Microsoft, participating developers will have access to leading video streaming technologists, live SRT video streams, and cloud resources including Haivision Hub, built on Microsoft Azure. The event kicks off with a webinar on May 5 at 10 am ET which explains how Plugfest works, the rules of engagement, as well as providing an exclusive update on the SRT roadmap.
